Factoid:
Does every regular member of your
crew know what to do in case a person goes overboard?
Do you have:
1. proper equipment,
2. a plan of action, and
3. have practiced the Man OverBoard (MOB) plan?

Introduction:
We welcome all people of all ages with an interest
in sailing whether boat owner or not. Each of us started out not knowing
a fig about boats and sailing. Everyone has to start somewhere. Why
don't you start with us? On this site you'll find information about
us, and our activities, along with descriptions of our events.
Your Fleet-8 web guy sorely regrets that he hasn't kept the web site
as up to date as in the past especially as regards the cruise information.
An attempt is made here to provide information about the two week-long
cruises in June. A lack of volunteers for Cruise Captains has
left us with leadership but no indians. I guess any group is only
as effective as its members make it.

--> Two new
links at the bottom of this page. One is good information
on how to prevent identity theft; and, the other on the new CG Aux.
Float Plan Central. Use a float plan when you are the only boat going
on a cruise if only for a weekend. It
may just save your life
--> Our Newest Member
- Step aside Mark Rapkins, we have TWO NEW MEMBERS. Joe
Blouse and Steven Smith both hail from York, PS, and
are the new owners of ETHEL MERMAID. Yes, we like to keep our
boats in the Fleet; and, looks like ETHEL MERMAID will remain at Maryland
Marina. So, let’s all welcome our newest members:

2007
Member of the Year Award
Goes to Norma Stumpp
Warren Updike, of Warr De Marr, and
the 2006 recipient of the award, presented the award at the
recent Change of Watch Meeting.
The Award is traditionally given to the one
person who has made themselves stand out during that sailing
calendar year as someone who has gone "above an beyond"
their expected roles as fleet members.
Norma, and her shipmate Bruce can be counted
on to champion Fleet activities offering their home, boat, and
selves in furtherance of fun afloat. Their spirit of fun, giving,
and camaraderie are what Fleet-8 and life on the water are all
about. Congratulations, Norma.

| Useful Links |
| We weren't going to have a "links"
section as there are so many other places to find useful links online.
However, these are particularly useful and important as items of
safety and education that we think it worthwhile having them here. |
