It's Tues. morn, that means we're on our way to Salem
River on Delaware. There are a number of bridges and cable crossings on
this leg. Aeolus approaches two. |
We are really pushing some water here running with
the current doing 7 kts. |
At last we arrive on Salem R. The current on the main
branch is stiff. We are anchored on a horseshoe branch. Joe and Neal are
suffering the heat. |

Warr and Pattie De Mar have the secret to baring
the heat, & it was hot! |
Even the "people named Rolfes" found the
heat opressive. |
Dan and Joe relax before our shore-side excursion |

We are anchored off the posh Penn-Salem Marina looking
much the worse for wear after Katrina. |
Joe, Pattie, Dan and Neal ready for the hike into
Salem City. But first, a tour of this fabulous marina. |
Joe finds a vintage C25 and drools over the added
amenities. Eat your heart out Capt. Joe. |

This is the only picture taken of Salem. No one thought
it worthy of more. It looks much like the towns of the '50s seen in old
movies. |
Back to the Penn-Salem Marina. Neal is about
to inspect the up-scale facilities. Fortunately, he is wearing shoes. |
Looking at our little raft on the Salem R. from the
aforementioned marina. It was a most trying effort in the noon heat. |

Neal and Dan ferry back to the raft. We daren't put
in another. |
Once back on-raft, a dip was just enough to knock-off
the heat. |
Warr is not a wimp here. The current was so swift
that if not tethered, you'd be out on the Delaware in no time. |
