2005 Photos: June Week-long Cruise

Woodwind leaves the Knapp Narrows channel bound for La Trappe Cr. on the Choptank. Deo Gratias also has joined us at Knapp Narrows and clears the channel for the open waters of the beautiful Choptank. Here is part of our gang at the Masthead Restaurant in Oxford. The view from the deck was wonderful; but, by dinner's end the wind had kicked-up and the temp dropped. The walk back warmed us up again.
Morning on San Domingo Cr. found Frick and Frack, err.. Dan and Joe wiping down the decks. Two more fastidious captains could not be found. Spice Girl isolated and alone on San Domingo Cr. Chazz was quarrantined by choice; but, always welcome on the raft (without the cigar.) On our way to Herrington Harbour, three boats went by way of the mouth of the Choptank to see Sharps Is. Light. The rest went back through Knapp Narrows. Here Southern Cross and Woodwind move up to get a close look.
Southern Cross takes a good look. Woodwind takes a good look. By some miracle of digital photography, we were able to set the light upright once again
At Herrington Harbour So., we enjoyed a fine meal well served. The best service so far. The rest of our group at Herrington Harbour Ugh-oh. This is really scary. Chazz and Joe give us some cheesecake. Are there any fangs on those uppers?
View from the head of the basin at Herrington Harbour South. There are a bizzilion boats here, and it is one of the nicest marinas to be found in the area. My first mate and I strolled to the far side of the basin. There is a pathway around the entire area, well lighted and beautifully planted. Across the basin we can see our small fleet tied to the dock all in a line. This is the same spot we get each year.

On Friday morning at Herrington Harbour, Isabel and Deo Gratias departed for home with more pressing business. Now we are four. During the trip up-bay to our anchorage on Whitehall Cr., Chazz on Spice Girl announced he had been diverted to Annapolis. Now we are three: Woodwind, Southern Cross, and Warr de Mar.

We found Whitehall Cr. a quiet and peaceful place with 8' of water well up the creek and many very fine homes gracing the shores. There was a lot of construction both new and remodeling. On Saturday morn, Woodwind had to leave early for appointments at home. Now we are Two.

Warr de Mar and Southern Cross completed the cruise in style on a broad reach from Poole Is. to Frog Mortar Cr. at SOG of 6 to 7 knots. They were the only boats to have completed the entire eight days of the cruise. Ok, we'll consider that Woodwind did too even if they did it alone.
